Rivière Capot
The Rivière Capot (Capot River) is a small river located in the Gaspésie region of Quebec, Canada. It is a tributary of the Rivière Bonaventure, flowing into the Bonaventure River near the town of Bonaventure. The Rivière Capot is known for its clear, cold water and its importance as a salmon spawning river. It is a popular destination for anglers seeking Atlantic salmon. The river's watershed is primarily forested, contributing to the quality of the water. Management of the river and its salmon population is overseen by local conservation organizations and the Quebec Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks. The name "Capot" is believed to derive from a French word referring to a type of cloak or hood, possibly relating to a geographical feature resembling such an item or historical use of the area.
