Stracimir

Stracimir was a Serbian nobleman who ruled as knez (duke or prince) of Zeta during the 14th century. He was a member of the Balšić family, who held sway over Zeta, a region encompassing parts of modern-day Montenegro, northern Albania, and southwestern Serbia.

Stracimir's precise dates of birth and death are uncertain, but he was active during the latter half of the 14th century. He co-ruled Zeta alongside his brothers Đurađ I and Balša II. Together, they expanded their territory and exerted considerable influence in the region, often navigating complex political alliances and conflicts with neighboring powers such as the Serbian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and the Republic of Venice.

Historical sources concerning Stracimir are often fragmented and sometimes contradictory. He is mentioned in various charters and historical accounts relating to the Balšić dynasty. His role in specific battles or diplomatic negotiations is not always clearly defined, as he often acted in concert with his brothers. However, his presence in historical records confirms his importance as a member of the ruling Balšić family and a key player in the political landscape of Zeta during his lifetime.

Stracimir had descendants, including at least one son, Đurađ II Stracimirović Balšić, who succeeded to the rule of Zeta after the death of Balša II. Đurađ II continued the dynasty's efforts to maintain control over Zeta amidst ongoing regional conflicts.
