Paippad

Paippad is a village located in the Alappuzha district of the state of Kerala, India. It is situated near the town of Haripad. The village is primarily known for the annual Paippad Jalolsavam (boat race) held in the Paippad River. This boat race commemorates the event when the idol of Lord Ayyappan was brought to Sabarimala, and is typically held during the Onam festival season. The race features various types of traditional Kerala boats, including snake boats (chundan vallams). Agriculture and related activities form a significant part of the local economy. The village also has schools, temples, and other community facilities.
