Stoidis

Stoidis is a genus of jumping spiders (family Salticidae). These small spiders are primarily found in the Caribbean region, with a concentration of species in Cuba and surrounding islands.

Characteristics of Stoidis spiders often include distinctive markings and patterns on their cephalothorax and abdomen. They are typically active hunters, relying on their keen eyesight and jumping ability to capture prey. Their size is generally small, often less than 5mm in length.

The genus Stoidis was established by Simon in 1901. As with many spider genera, the taxonomy and classification of Stoidis are subject to ongoing research and revision. Identification of individual species within the genus often requires close examination of their morphology, particularly the structure of their genitalia.

Their habitats vary, but they are generally found in foliage and undergrowth in tropical and subtropical environments. Their diet primarily consists of small insects and other invertebrates. Due to their size and relatively cryptic behavior, they are not typically considered a threat to humans.
