Space (Ibiza nightclub)

Space was a superclub located in Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza, Spain, operating from 1989 to 2016. It was widely regarded as one of the most influential and awarded nightclubs in the world, contributing significantly to the development of electronic dance music culture.

Originally a leisure complex featuring a discotheque alongside other entertainment facilities, Space gradually evolved into a dedicated nightclub. A key element of its early success was its open-air terrace, allowing clubbers to dance in daylight after dawn, a feature largely unique to Ibiza.

Space became renowned for its marathon opening and closing parties, often lasting over 20 hours, and its dedication to showcasing a diverse range of electronic music genres. Carl Cox held a residency at Space for 15 years, becoming synonymous with the club and its atmosphere. Other notable DJs who regularly played at Space include Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, and Sasha.

Over its lifetime, Space won numerous awards, including "Best Global Club" multiple times from the International Dance Music Awards and DJ Magazine.

The club was sold in 2016, with the final party taking place on October 2, 2016. The site was subsequently taken over by a new club, Hi Ibiza. Despite the change in ownership and name, the legacy of Space continues to influence the global clubbing scene.
