Sloeštica

Sloeštica is a village located in the Demir Hisar Municipality of North Macedonia. Situated in the southwestern part of the country, it's part of the historical region of Železnik.

The village is known for its historical and cultural significance. Sloeštica is believed to be the site of the medieval Slavic literary school, the Ohrid Literary School, founded by Saint Clement of Ohrid in the late 9th century. Archaeological excavations in the area have revealed evidence supporting this claim, including remnants of buildings and inscriptions. This link to Saint Clement and the development of the Cyrillic alphabet makes Sloeštica a site of importance for Slavic history and culture.

The modern-day village is a small rural settlement. Its economy is primarily based on agriculture and livestock breeding. Tourism related to the historical significance of the Ohrid Literary School also contributes to the local economy.
