Scott River (Western Australia)

The Scott River is a perennial river located in the South West region of Western Australia. Its headwaters rise in the Blackwood Plateau, southeast of Nannup. The river flows generally south-west, through dense karri and jarrah forests and agricultural land, before discharging into the Southern Ocean near Augusta.

The river's length is approximately 117 kilometers. The Scott River area is known for its biodiversity, including unique flora and fauna adapted to the acidic, sandy soils. It's also part of the broader Warren bioregion.

The Scott River catchment has been subject to land clearing for agriculture, leading to some water quality concerns, particularly salinity and nutrient enrichment. Various conservation efforts are underway to address these issues and protect the ecological integrity of the river system. The river is popular for recreational fishing and canoeing, although access may be restricted in certain areas.
