Safar Zai

Safar Zai, also sometimes written as Safarzai, is a Pashtun tribe inhabiting parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are primarily found in the northwestern regions of Pakistan, particularly in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), and across the border in Afghanistan's eastern provinces. The Safar Zai are considered part of the larger Yusufzai tribal confederation.

Historically, the Safar Zai have been involved in tribal politics and conflicts common to the region. Like many Pashtun tribes, they adhere to the Pashtunwali code of conduct, which emphasizes hospitality, honor, revenge, and the importance of tribal unity. Their livelihoods are often based on agriculture, livestock farming, and trade.

The Safar Zai, along with other tribes in the region, have been significantly impacted by decades of conflict, including the Soviet-Afghan War, the rise of the Taliban, and subsequent military operations. These conflicts have led to displacement, economic hardship, and social disruption.

Due to the remoteness and security concerns in the areas they inhabit, reliable demographic data and detailed ethnographic studies on the Safar Zai are often limited. Sources regarding their specific sub-clans, customs, and historical figures can vary and may require careful verification.
