Ron Bass (wrestler)

Ron Bass (born Ronald Heard, December 21, 1948 – March 7, 2017) was an American professional wrestler best known for his appearances in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and World Wrestling Federation (WWF) during the 1980s.

Bass portrayed a villainous cowboy character, often wielding a bullwhip named "Miss Betsy." He began his wrestling career in the 1970s, working in various territories including Florida, Georgia, and Mid-South Wrestling.

His tenure in the WWF began in 1987. A notable feud during this period was against Junkyard Dog, which involved Bass repeatedly attacking the Dog with Miss Betsy. He also had a notable rivalry with Brutus Beefcake after injuring Beefcake's hand. Bass remained with the WWF until 1989.

After leaving the WWF, Bass wrestled in various independent promotions before retiring from active competition. He resided in Tampa, Florida, until his death in 2017.
