Robert Thornton (darts player)

Robert Thornton (born 17 July 1967) is a Scottish professional darts player. Known as "The Thorn," he has competed in both the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).

Thornton achieved success in the BDO, reaching the final of the 2002 World Masters, where he was defeated by Mervyn King. He switched to the PDC in 2008 and quickly established himself as a formidable competitor.

His major PDC titles include the 2012 UK Open, where he defeated Phil Taylor in a memorable final. He also won the 2013 World Grand Prix, defeating Dave Chisnall. Thornton has represented Scotland in the PDC World Cup of Darts on numerous occasions, partnering with Peter Wright.

Thornton is known for his consistent scoring and solid finishing. He remains an active participant in the PDC circuit, competing in major televised tournaments. His career highlights showcase his ability to compete at the highest level of professional darts.
