Rob Wynne
Rob Wynne (born 1950) is an American artist known primarily for his reverse-painted glass installations and sculptures. His work often features text or motifs inspired by literature, poetry, and historical decorative arts. He is based in New York City.
Wynne's signature technique involves painting on the reverse side of glass panels, creating a delicate and ethereal effect when viewed from the front. His installations often incorporate hand-blown glass elements and can be site-specific, responding to the architecture and context of the space in which they are displayed.
His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries internationally, including the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Luxembourg). He has also created large-scale public art installations.
Themes explored in Wynne's work often include memory, language, and the passage of time. His use of text, often obscured or fragmented, invites viewers to engage in a process of interpretation and discovery.
