Rob Johnson (American football)

Rob Johnson (born January 15, 1973) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons.

Johnson played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) before being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Jaguars, primarily as a backup, before being traded to the Buffalo Bills in 1998.

He served as the Bills' starting quarterback from 1998 to 2000. While with the Bills, he showed flashes of potential, but inconsistencies and injuries hampered his performance. A notable moment in his career involved a quarterback controversy with Doug Flutie during the 1999 season, which ultimately led to Johnson being named the starter for a playoff game that the Bills lost.

After leaving Buffalo, Johnson played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2001-2002), the Washington Redskins (2003), the Oakland Raiders (2003), and the Buffalo Bills again (2004) as a backup quarterback. He finished his NFL career with the Raiders in 2005.
