Resurrection (Chris Pérez album)
Resurrection is the second studio album by American guitarist Chris Pérez, released on May 18, 1999, on Hollywood Records. Following the dissolution of the Chris Pérez Band after the death of vocalist John Garza, Pérez regrouped and refocused his musical style, shifting away from Tejano rock towards a harder-edged alternative rock sound.
The album features primarily English-language songs, a departure from the predominantly Spanish-language material of his previous band. While retaining some Latin influences, Resurrection leaned heavily into the alternative rock and grunge genres prevalent in the late 1990s.
Singles released from the album included "Best I Can" and "Believe." The album achieved moderate success, but did not reach the commercial heights of the Chris Pérez Band's debut album. Critics noted the stylistic shift and Pérez's increased involvement in songwriting and vocal duties. Resurrection marked a significant turning point in Pérez's musical career, demonstrating his versatility and willingness to explore different genres beyond his Tejano music roots.
