Rayong

Rayong is a province (Changwat) of Thailand. It is located on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand and is part of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

Geography: Rayong is characterized by its coastline, beaches, islands, and forested interior. Important geographical features include the Khao Chamao – Khao Wong National Park and the Mu Ko Samet National Park, encompassing the island of Ko Samet.

History: Historically, the area was part of various kingdoms and empires in Southeast Asia. More recently, Rayong has seen significant economic development due to industrial growth and tourism.

Economy: The province's economy is diverse, including agriculture (particularly fruit production), fishing, industry (petrochemicals), and tourism. The Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate is a major industrial center within the province.

Administration: Rayong province is divided into eight districts (Amphoe).

Tourism: Rayong is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its beaches, islands, national parks, and seafood. Popular destinations include Ko Samet, Mae Ram Phueng Beach, and various cultural and historical sites.

Culture: The culture of Rayong reflects its coastal location and its proximity to other regions of Thailand. Seafood is a prominent part of the local cuisine.
