Rafael Muñoz (swimmer)
Rafael Muñoz Pérez (born March 3, 1988) is a Spanish swimmer specializing in butterfly events. He is known for his explosive speed and powerful technique in the 50-meter butterfly.
Muñoz achieved international recognition for his performance at the 2009 Spanish National Championships, where he broke the world record in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 22.43 seconds. This record stood for several years.
Throughout his career, Muñoz represented Spain in numerous international competitions, including the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships. While he may not have consistently replicated the world-record-breaking speed of his 2009 performance, he remained a competitive force in the 50-meter butterfly and contributed to Spanish swimming on the international stage. He is also known for being one of the few swimmers to consistently challenge the dominance of more established names in the butterfly sprints. After retirement from competitive swimming, Muñoz pursued other endeavors.
