Progress M-44

Progress M-44 was an uncrewed Russian Progress cargo spacecraft launched in 2001 to resupply the International Space Station (ISS). It was the fourth Progress-M 11F615A55 spacecraft, with the serial number 254. Launched by a Soyuz-U carrier rocket from Baikonur Cosmodrome, it docked with the Pirs Docking Compartment of the ISS.

Progress M-44 carried supplies including food, fuel, oxygen, water, and equipment for scientific experiments. It remained docked to the ISS for several months, during which time it was also used to adjust the station's orbit. Upon its departure, it was deorbited and burned up in the Earth's atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean. The mission was part of the ongoing effort to support and maintain the ISS and its crew.
