Post (Björk album)
Post is the second studio album by Icelandic singer and songwriter Björk, released in June 1995 by One Little Indian. Continuing the artistic experimentation begun on her debut, Debut (1993), Post is a diverse and eclectic collection of songs that explores themes of love, longing, and the excitement and anxieties of living in a new environment.
The album was largely written after Björk's relocation to London and reflects her impressions of the city. Sonically, Post blends elements of electronic music, trip hop, industrial, jazz, and big band, showcasing Björk's innovative approach to music production and her distinctive vocal style.
Key tracks include "Army of Me," a heavy, industrial-influenced song; "Hyperballad," a blend of electronic beats and orchestral arrangements; "It's Oh So Quiet," a cover of a 1951 Betty Hutton song, known for its dynamic shifts between quiet and bombastic sections; and "Isobel," a collaboration with Nellee Hooper, exploring themes of self-creation and imagination.
Post received critical acclaim upon release and is considered one of Björk's most influential and enduring albums. It was a commercial success, reaching the top of the UK Albums Chart and achieving platinum certification in several countries. The album spawned several successful singles and accompanying music videos that further cemented Björk's status as a visionary artist.
