Perpetual Motion (card game)

Perpetual Motion is a solitaire or patience card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The objective of the game is to move all the cards from the waste pile and stock pile to the four foundations, built up in suit from Ace to King.

Setup:

The entire deck is dealt into a single pile known as the stock pile, faced down. The top card of the stock pile is then moved to the waste pile and turned face up. Four foundation piles are started as they become available, one for each suit.

Gameplay:

Cards can be moved from the waste pile to a foundation if they are one rank higher than the top card of the foundation pile and of the same suit. For example, a two of hearts can be placed on an ace of hearts.

When the waste pile is empty, the top card of the stock pile is flipped over and placed face up onto the waste pile.

The game continues until all cards have been moved to the foundations, or until no more moves are possible.

Winning:

The game is won when all cards from the stock and waste piles are successfully moved to the four foundations, building each suit up from Ace to King.

Losing:

The game is lost when there are no more possible moves and cards remain in the stock and waste piles. The player is "stuck" with the remaining cards.
