HMS Cordelia (1914)

HMS Cordelia was a C-class light cruiser built for the Royal Navy in the early 1910s. She was one of eight ships in the Caroline sub-class. Launched in 1914, she saw extensive service during the First World War.

Cordelia was built by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead, England. She was laid down in September 1913, launched on 23 February 1914, and commissioned in January 1915. Her main armament consisted of two BL 6-inch Mk XII guns and eight QF 4-inch Mk IV guns. She also carried two 3-pounder anti-aircraft guns and two 21-inch torpedo tubes.

During the First World War, Cordelia served primarily with the Grand Fleet. She participated in the Battle of Jutland in May 1916 as part of the 4th Light Cruiser Squadron, where she engaged German cruisers and destroyers. She also took part in numerous patrols and escort duties in the North Sea.

After the war, Cordelia served in various roles, including as a training ship. She was placed in reserve in 1920 and sold for scrap on 27 July 1923 to Cashmore.
