Pavlos Melas (municipality)
Pavlos Melas is a municipality in the Thessaloniki regional unit of Central Macedonia, Greece. It is located directly west of the city of Thessaloniki, forming part of its urban area.
The municipality was formed in 2011 by the merger of the former municipalities of Efkarpia, Polichni, and Stavroupoli, which became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is in Stavroupoli.
The municipality is named after Pavlos Melas, a Greek Army officer and hero of the Greek Struggle for Macedonia in the early 20th century. He is revered for his contribution to the cause of incorporating Macedonia into Greece.
Pavlos Melas is a densely populated area, primarily residential and commercial, with a significant industrial presence along its western edges. Key industries include manufacturing, construction, and retail. The municipality also boasts a number of parks and recreational areas, offering green spaces for residents.
