Paul Smith (footballer, born 1962)

Paul Smith (born 27 October 1962) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder.

Smith began his career at non-league level before joining Lincoln City in 1982. He made over 100 league appearances for the Imps, playing a key role in their Fourth Division Championship-winning season of 1980-81.

After a spell with Scunthorpe United, he moved to Sheffield United in 1987. He enjoyed a successful period at Bramall Lane, featuring regularly as the Blades earned promotion from the Third Division in 1988-89 and the Second Division in 1989-90.

He later played for Rochdale and Halifax Town before retiring from professional football. After his playing career, Smith worked in various coaching roles.
