Pat Phelan (Coronation Street)
Pat Phelan was a prominent antagonist in the British soap opera Coronation Street, played by actor Connor McIntyre. Introduced in 2013, Phelan quickly established himself as a ruthless and manipulative property developer with a penchant for fraudulent schemes.
Initially presented as a charming builder, Phelan’s true nature was gradually revealed, showcasing a pattern of blackmail, intimidation, and violence. His crimes escalated over time, transforming him into one of the show's most notorious villains.
Phelan's significant storylines included forcing Anna Windass into sex work, orchestrating the deaths of Michael Rodwell and Andy Carver, and holding Andy and Vinny Ashford hostage in a basement before ultimately shooting them. He also conned several residents out of their savings through a fake property development scheme in Weatherfield.
His reign of terror culminated in a dramatic siege at the Bistro on his wedding day to Eileen Grimshaw. He was eventually stabbed by Anna Windass, leading to his death in 2018. Phelan's character arc explored themes of greed, power, and the consequences of unchecked ambition. His actions profoundly impacted many of the street's residents, leaving a lasting legacy of fear and distrust. He briefly returned in 2019 in a hallucination sequence.
