Riddick (film)
Riddick is a 2013 American science fiction action film directed by David Twohy. It is the third installment in the Chronicles of Riddick film series, following Pitch Black (2000) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004). The film stars Vin Diesel as Richard B. Riddick, reprising his role as the Furyan anti-hero.
The film depicts Riddick, betrayed and left for dead on a desolate planet, fighting for survival against alien predators and mercenaries who are after the bounty on his head. He triggers an emergency beacon that attracts two groups of bounty hunters: one led by Santana (Jordi Mollà), and another by Boss Johns (Matt Nable), the father of William J. Johns from Pitch Black.
Riddick returns to a more survival-horror oriented style reminiscent of Pitch Black, contrasting with the large-scale space opera of The Chronicles of Riddick. The film explores themes of survival, betrayal, and redemption, as Riddick once again relies on his cunning and deadly skills to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. The plot involves Riddick manipulating the mercenaries and using the planet's dangerous creatures to his advantage in order to escape.
