Oxybelini
Oxybelini is a tribe of wasps belonging to the family Crabronidae, subfamily Crabroninae. These wasps are generally small to medium in size and are characterized by their slender bodies and often black and yellow coloration.
Members of the Oxybelini tribe are predatory wasps, primarily known for provisioning their nests with Diptera (flies). The female wasp paralyzes the fly with her sting and carries it back to the nest, where it serves as food for the developing larva.
Nests are typically constructed in pre-existing cavities, such as tunnels in wood or soil, or even in abandoned insect nests. Some species are known to nest communally.
Oxybelini is a relatively large tribe, with species found in various regions around the world. Genera included in this tribe include, but are not limited to, Oxybelus, Anoxybelus, and Belomicrus.
