Ore-Ida

Ore-Ida is a brand of frozen potato products, primarily known for its frozen french fries and tater tots. The brand was founded in 1949 in Ontario, Oregon, by brothers F. Nephi Grigg and Golden Grigg, initially as a means to process surplus potatoes from their farming operation. The name "Ore-Ida" is a portmanteau of Oregon and Idaho, the two states where the potatoes were sourced.

The company pioneered the production of frozen french fries on a large scale, revolutionizing the food industry. Their innovation in processing techniques allowed for convenient and consistent quality in potato products.

Over the years, Ore-Ida expanded its product line to include various types of french fries (such as crinkle-cut, shoestring, and steak fries), tater tots, potato patties, and other potato-based snacks and side dishes.

The Ore-Ida brand has changed ownership several times since its inception. It was acquired by H.J. Heinz Company in 1965, and remained part of the Heinz portfolio until Heinz merged with Kraft Foods in 2015, forming Kraft Heinz. Ore-Ida continues to operate as a key brand within the Kraft Heinz company. It is widely distributed throughout North America and is recognized as a leading brand in the frozen potato category.
