Northiam
Northiam is a village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex, England. It is located close to the border with Kent and situated about 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Hawkhurst and 11 miles (18 km) northeast of Hastings.
Historically, Northiam has been an agricultural area, with oast houses and hop farming playing a significant role in its economy. More recently, its proximity to larger towns and its rural character have led to a rise in commuting residents.
The village is known for its historic buildings, including Great Dixter, a historic house and gardens that are a popular tourist attraction. Great Dixter was the family home of gardener and writer Christopher Lloyd. Other notable features include the parish church of St. Bartholomew, and the village green.
Northiam is part of the Rye parliamentary constituency. Local government is administered by East Sussex County Council and Rother District Council.
The civil parish has a relatively small population, with recent census data indicating a population of around 2,000 people.
