Nick Davis (footballer)
Nick Davis (born 25 July 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Career Summary:
Davis was a small forward known for his pace, agility, and goal-sense. He began his AFL career with Collingwood, debuting in 1999. He played 71 games for the Magpies before being traded to Sydney at the end of the 2002 season.
He is most famous for his match-winning performance for Sydney in the 2005 semi-final against Geelong. With the Swans trailing by four points in the dying seconds, Davis took a contested mark on the boundary line and kicked a goal, securing a three-point victory and sending Sydney into the preliminary final. This goal is considered one of the most memorable in AFL history.
Davis played in the Sydney Swans' premiership-winning team in 2005, although he missed the 2006 Grand Final due to injury. He played 95 games for the Swans before being delisted at the end of the 2008 season.
