Communist Party (Marxist–Leninist) of San Marino
The Communist Party (Marxist–Leninist) of San Marino (Italian: Partito Comunista (Marxista-Leninista) di San Marino, PC(M-L)SM) is a minor communist party in San Marino. It adheres to Marxist-Leninist ideology.
The party was founded in 1968 as a split from the Sammarinese Communist Party (PCS), objecting to the PCS's increasingly moderate stance and perceived revisionism following the Sino-Soviet split. The PC(M-L)SM aligned itself with the People's Republic of China and Maoism.
The PC(M-L)SM never achieved significant electoral success in San Marino. Throughout its history, its support has been minimal, generally hovering around or below 1% of the vote in parliamentary elections. As a result, it has never held seats in the Grand and General Council.
Following the death of Mao Zedong and the subsequent changes in Chinese foreign policy, the party maintained a broadly Marxist-Leninist orientation, although its specific positions and activities have been relatively obscure in recent decades. The party continues to exist, though it remains a marginal political force in San Marino. Detailed information about the party's current activities and membership is scarce.
