National Inspectorate of Strategic Products (Sweden)
The National Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP; Swedish: Inspektionen för strategiska produkter) is a Swedish government agency responsible for controlling exports of war materiel, dual-use items (goods that can be used for both civilian and military purposes), and technology. Its primary function is to ensure that Swedish exports of these sensitive items comply with national and international regulations, including arms embargoes and non-proliferation treaties.
The ISP assesses applications for export licenses, issues permits, and monitors compliance with export control regulations. It also collaborates with other Swedish government agencies, international organizations, and other countries to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and conventional arms. The agency’s work is crucial to maintaining Sweden's credibility in international efforts to promote peace and security, and it plays a key role in preventing sensitive technologies from falling into the wrong hands. Violations of export control regulations can result in substantial penalties. The ISP is accountable to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
