Narcosis (band)

Narcosis was a pioneering technical death metal band from Mexico, formed in 1989. They are considered one of the earliest and most influential extreme metal bands from Latin America. Known for their complex arrangements, dissonant harmonies, and unconventional song structures, Narcosis pushed the boundaries of death metal during their active years.

The band's sound incorporated elements of jazz fusion, progressive rock, and avant-garde music, setting them apart from their contemporaries. Their lyrics often explored philosophical and existential themes.

Narcosis released several demos and EPs during the early to mid-1990s, gaining a significant cult following within the international underground metal scene. Their most well-known releases include the demos Enter the Void (1991) and Perpetual Agony (1993). While they never released a full-length album during their initial run, their collected works have been re-released on compilations by various labels.

The band went through several lineup changes over the years, but the core members generally included guitarists Hugo Villanueva and Carlos Alvarado, and vocalist/bassist Alejandro Flores. Narcosis disbanded in the late 1990s, but their influence continues to be felt in the technical death metal genre.
