Tyler Mitchell (musician)

Tyler Mitchell is an American jazz bassist, composer, and educator. He is known for his work with Marshall Allen and the Sun Ra Arkestra, having joined the ensemble in 2016 and contributed significantly to their recent recordings and performances. Mitchell is also active as a bandleader, releasing albums under his own name that explore themes of spirituality, Afro-futurism, and improvisation. His musical style often blends traditional jazz elements with avant-garde and experimental approaches. He has toured extensively and collaborated with a variety of musicians in the contemporary jazz scene. In addition to his performance work, Mitchell is also dedicated to music education, leading workshops and masterclasses.
