NGC 128

NGC 128 is a lenticular galaxy located approximately 200 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces. It is a member of the NGC 128 group of galaxies, which also includes NGC 125, NGC 126, and NGC 127.

NGC 128 is notable for its distorted shape and the presence of a prominent dust lane. This distortion is believed to be the result of gravitational interaction with other galaxies in the group, particularly NGC 127. The dust lane runs nearly perpendicular to the galaxy's major axis.

The galaxy was discovered on December 25, 1790, by William Herschel. It has an apparent magnitude of approximately 13.1. Studies of NGC 128 have contributed to understanding galaxy evolution and the impact of galactic interactions on galaxy morphology.
