Kiev (band)

Kiev was an American progressive rock/experimental rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2009. The band's music is characterized by its complex arrangements, instrumental virtuosity, and incorporation of elements from diverse genres, including progressive rock, jazz fusion, post-rock, and ambient music. Their sound often features layered instrumentation, dynamic shifts, and extended instrumental passages.

Kiev released their debut album, Falling Bough Wisdom Teeth, in 2010. Their second album, Colors in the Fore, was released in 2013 and received critical acclaim. It showcased a more refined and mature sound, further solidifying their reputation within the progressive music scene. Following Colors in the Fore, Kiev toured extensively and released an EP entitled Crooked Ghost in 2016.

The band's lineup typically consisted of members playing instruments such as guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, and various electronic instruments. While Kiev had a primarily instrumental focus, they occasionally incorporated vocals into their compositions.

As of the early 2020s, the band was reported to be on hiatus, with members pursuing other musical projects. No official disbandment announcement has been made.
