Ministry of Agriculture (Iraq)

The Ministry of Agriculture (Iraq) (Arabic: وزارة الزراعة) is a governmental body within the Republic of Iraq responsible for overseeing agricultural policies, research, and development related to farming, livestock, and fisheries within the country. The Ministry aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices, increase food security, improve the livelihoods of farmers, and manage natural resources related to agriculture. Its responsibilities include setting agricultural policies, providing support and training to farmers, conducting research on crop production and animal husbandry, regulating the import and export of agricultural products, and managing water resources for irrigation. The Ministry works in collaboration with international organizations and other government agencies to modernize the agricultural sector in Iraq. Key departments within the Ministry generally address areas such as crop production, animal resources, land reclamation, irrigation, and agricultural extension services. The Minister of Agriculture, appointed by the Iraqi government, heads the Ministry.
