Mike Norris (baseball)

Mike Norris (born March 15, 1955) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics from 1975 to 1983, and briefly in 1990 for the Houston Astros.

Norris was an All-Star in 1980, a season in which he went 22-9 with a 2.53 ERA and finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting. He was known for his sinker and slider, which he used effectively to induce ground balls. Injuries plagued the later part of his career, preventing him from consistently replicating his 1980 success. He also had a reputation for being outspoken and independent, often clashing with management.
