Mike Lawrence (bridge)

Mike Lawrence (born 1940) is an American professional bridge player, teacher, and author. He is widely regarded as one of the foremost bridge theorists and instructors of his generation.

Lawrence has won multiple national and world bridge championships, including two Bermuda Bowls (1995, 2003), the World Open Pairs (1978), and numerous North American Bridge Championships (NABCs).

He is renowned for his contributions to bidding theory, particularly in the areas of 2/1 game forcing, weak two-bids, and slam bidding. He is the author of several influential bridge books, including "How to Play Card Combinations," "Judgment at Bridge," "The Complete Book on Balancing," "The Losing Trick Count," "I Fought the Law of Averages," and "Lawrence on Bridge." These books are known for their clear explanations, practical advice, and insightful analyses of bridge situations.

Lawrence has also been a regular contributor to bridge magazines and journals, and he is a popular bridge teacher, giving seminars and workshops around the world. He is a Grand Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).
