Michelle Steel
Michelle Steel (born June 21, 1955) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 45th congressional district since 2021. She is a member of the Republican Party.
Prior to her election to Congress, Steel served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors from 2015 to 2021, representing the Second District. Before that, she served on the California State Board of Equalization from 2007 to 2015, representing the Third District. She was the highest-ranking Republican woman in California politics before her election to Congress.
Steel was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States. She is a graduate of Pepperdine University with a degree in business administration.
Her political positions are generally considered conservative. She has focused on issues such as tax cuts, fiscal responsibility, and national security. She is also known for her advocacy on behalf of the Korean American community.
