Michael Stewart (footballer)

Michael Stewart (born 27 February 1981) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.

Career

Stewart began his career with Manchester United, joining their youth academy before progressing to the first team. Unable to secure a regular place, he was loaned to Belgian side Royal Antwerp, Nottingham Forest, and Hearts. He signed permanently for Hearts in 2005.

During his time at Hearts, Stewart became a key player and earned international recognition with Scotland. He moved to Gençlerbirliği in Turkey in January 2007, but struggled to settle and returned to Scotland with Hibernian later that year.

Stewart had a spell with Hibernian before joining Hearts for a second time in 2009. He then played for Charlton Athletic and had a brief stint in India with Mumbai City. After leaving Mumbai City, he retired from professional football.

International Career

Stewart represented Scotland at international level, earning four caps.

Post-Playing Career

Since retiring from playing, Stewart has worked as a pundit and commentator for various media outlets.
