Michael Kelly (Scottish politician)

Michael Kelly (born 12 May 1947) is a Scottish Labour Party politician. He served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Glasgow Rutherglen constituency from 1999 to 2011.

Kelly was educated at St Columba's High School, Cowdenbeath, and later at Jordanhill College of Education. Before entering politics, he worked as a teacher.

In the first Scottish Parliament election in 1999, Kelly was elected as the MSP for Glasgow Rutherglen. He was subsequently re-elected in 2003 and 2007. During his time in Parliament, he served on various committees, including the Education Committee, the Health Committee, and the Justice Committee.

Kelly was known for his focus on local constituency issues and his advocacy for social justice. He retired from the Scottish Parliament at the 2011 election.
