Michael Bacon (composer)

Michael Bacon (born December 1, 1948) is an American musician and composer, best known for his work in film and television scoring. He is the older brother of actor Kevin Bacon.

Bacon is a graduate of Lehman College and holds a master's degree in music from the City University of New York. He began his career as a singer-songwriter and performer, and later transitioned into composing for visual media.

He is a prolific composer, with credits including scores for numerous documentaries, television movies, and independent films. His work spans a wide range of genres, from dramatic underscore to comedic themes. He often collaborates with his brother Kevin, scoring films in which Kevin stars or directs.

In addition to his composing work, Michael Bacon is also a member of the musical duo The Bacon Brothers, which he formed with Kevin. The band tours and records original music, showcasing Michael's songwriting and vocal talents. He plays cello, guitar, and percussion in the band.

Bacon's contributions to film and television music have earned him several awards and nominations, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Music Composition for a Miniseries or a Special for the documentary King Gimp. He continues to be an active composer and performer.
