Martelo

Martelo is the Portuguese word for "hammer." It refers to a hand tool consisting of a weighted "head" (typically made of steel) fixed to a handle (typically made of wood, fiberglass, or metal) used to deliver an impact to an object. The hammer is primarily used for driving nails, fitting parts, forging metal, and breaking apart objects.

Hammers come in various shapes and sizes, each designed for specific purposes. Common types include the claw hammer (for driving and removing nails), the ball-peen hammer (for metalworking), the sledgehammer (for heavy demolition work), and the rubber mallet (for applying force without damaging surfaces).

The term "martelo" is also used figuratively in Portuguese to describe someone who is insistent, forceful, or relentless. It can also refer to the act of hammering or striking something.
