Mark Lawn

A Mark Lawn is a term used, primarily in Australia and New Zealand, to describe a dedicated and clearly demarcated area of grass, often within a park or public space, intended for use as a scorekeeping surface during a cricket or lawn bowls match. Typically, the scorer sits on a chair or small table positioned directly on the grass. The "mark" may be visibly differentiated from the surrounding lawn through mowing patterns, slightly raised elevation, or the use of painted lines, though such clear demarcation is not always present. The term implies a designated scoring area, rather than simply any patch of grass. The individual occupying this area is often referred to as the "marker."
