Mark Arm
Mark Arm is an American musician, best known as the vocalist for the grunge band Mudhoney.
Born Mark McLaughlin in Seattle, Washington, Arm adopted the stage name "Mark Arm" early in his career. He is considered a pioneer of the grunge music scene that emerged in Seattle in the late 1980s.
Before Mudhoney, Arm was a member of several other influential Seattle bands, including Mr. Epp and the Calculations, Green River (alongside future members of Pearl Jam), and Blood Circus. Green River is particularly notable for its influence on the development of grunge.
Mudhoney formed in 1988 and quickly became a key band in the Sub Pop Records stable. Their sound, characterized by heavy, fuzzed-out guitars, raw vocals, and a punk-influenced energy, helped define the grunge aesthetic. Arm's distinctive vocal style and lyrical content were central to the band's identity.
Beyond Mudhoney, Arm has participated in various side projects and collaborations, further demonstrating his versatility as a musician. His contributions have cemented his status as an important figure in the history of alternative rock.
