M-44 (Michigan highway)

M-44 is a state trunkline highway in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a north–south route located entirely within Kent County, on the northeast side of Grand Rapids. The highway runs for approximately 12 miles (19 km), connecting M-21 (Fulton Street) in Grand Rapids with M-57 near Rockford. M-44 is a primarily a two-lane surface highway, serving as a major arterial route for local traffic in the suburban communities northeast of Grand Rapids. The highway is also known locally as Plainfield Avenue. While originally extending further south into the city of Grand Rapids, the southern terminus was truncated to M-21. The route primarily traverses residential and commercial areas.
