Juvenal (footballer, born March 1923)
Juvenal Amarijo, simply known as Juvenal, (born March 27, 1923, in Santa Vitória do Palmar, Brazil; died October 30, 2009, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was a Brazilian football defender.
He played for several clubs throughout his career, most notably Flamengo and Palmeiras. Juvenal was a member of the Brazilian national team that competed in the 1950 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil. He played in four of Brazil's six matches during the tournament. Although Brazil lost the final match to Uruguay in what is known as the "Maracanazo," Juvenal played an important role in the team's overall performance.
After his playing career ended, Juvenal remained involved in football in various capacities, including as a coach and administrator. He is remembered as a solid and reliable defender who contributed significantly to Brazilian football during his era.
