Line 1 (Chongqing Rail Transit)
Line 1 of the Chongqing Rail Transit is a rapid transit line in Chongqing, China. It is distinguished by its use of both underground and elevated sections throughout its route. The line is notable as being the first rapid transit line to open in Western China, commencing operations on July 28, 2011, with an initial section between Chaotianmen and Shapingba.
The line’s color is Pantone 266C, a vibrant purple, which is used extensively in station signage and on rolling stock. As of 2023, Line 1 spans a significant portion of Chongqing, connecting the city center with western and southwestern suburbs. It is a crucial artery in Chongqing's expanding public transportation network, providing vital access to areas like Shapingba, Geleshan, and Bishan.
Line 1 uses a combination of 6-car Type B trainsets. The trains are electric multiple units (EMUs) powered by overhead lines.
The line continues to expand, with planned extensions to increase its coverage and capacity, solidifying its role in Chongqing's urban mobility. Future extensions aim to connect Line 1 with other lines in the rail network, further improving connectivity throughout the city.
