Love Me, Love Me Not (manga)
Love Me, Love Me Not (Japanese: ふり、ふられ, Hepburn: Furi, Furare, literally "Unpredictable Love, Unrequited Love") is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Io Sakisaka. It was serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret from June 2015 to May 2019 and collected in twelve tankōbon volumes.
The story revolves around four high school students with contrasting views and experiences of love: Yuna Ichihara, an introverted girl who dreams of fairy-tale romances, and Akari Yamamoto, her more outgoing and pragmatic friend with a complicated family situation. Kazuomi Inui, Yuna's classmate, is a reserved and intellectual boy, while Rio Yamamoto, Akari's stepbrother, is popular and charming but harbors his own emotional complexities. The manga explores themes of friendship, family dynamics, romantic expectations versus reality, and the challenges of navigating first love and relationships.
The manga has been adapted into various forms of media. A live-action film adaptation directed by Takahiro Miki was released in Japan in August 2020. An anime film adaptation animated by A-1 Pictures premiered in Japan in September 2020.
