Lou Costello (footballer)
Lou Costello (born Luigi Cristillo; March 6, 1906 – March 3, 1959), sometimes referred to as Lou Cristillo Costello, was an American actor and comedian best known for his partnership with Bud Abbott as Abbott and Costello. However, before achieving fame in entertainment, Costello briefly pursued a career as a semi-professional football player. Details about his football career are limited, but it is known that he played for teams on the East Coast, primarily in the 1920s. His football career was cut short due to injuries and a desire to pursue a career in show business. While he later leveraged his athletic build for physical comedy routines, his time as a footballer remains a relatively minor and less documented aspect of his life compared to his successful career in comedy.
