Lincoln (band)

Lincoln was an American emo band formed in Lincoln, Nebraska in the early 1990s. They were known for their introspective lyrics, dynamic instrumentation, and emotionally charged live performances. The band's sound incorporated elements of post-hardcore and indie rock, contributing to the burgeoning emo scene of the era.

Lincoln consisted of vocalist/guitarist Chris Machmuller, bassist/vocalist James Dean, and drummer Shawn Neuerburg. The band released several EPs and one full-length album, A Hundred Ways to End a Life, in 1993 on Caulfield Records. This album is considered a seminal work in the development of emo music.

Despite their relatively short lifespan, Lincoln's music has remained influential, inspiring numerous later bands in the emo and indie rock genres. Their raw, honest songwriting and passionate delivery continue to resonate with listeners and critics alike. After the band dissolved, members pursued other musical projects. Chris Machmuller went on to form the band Polecat. Lincoln reunited for several shows in the 2000s.
