Leucippus (crater)
Leucippus is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon, beyond the limb as seen from the Earth. It lies to the northwest of the larger crater Vesalius, and southeast of Wiener.
The rim of Leucippus is somewhat eroded, and has a few small craterlets lying along the edge. The inner walls are irregular and slumped in places. The interior floor is relatively level, and is marked only by a few tiny craters. There is a slight rise in the center of the crater.
Leucippus lies within the South Pole-Aitken basin, a vast impact feature on the far side of the Moon. The crater is named after the ancient Greek philosopher Leucippus.
